With the deepening of the national education system reform and the acceleration of thepopularization process of higher education, higher vocational education that is to develophigh-skilled applied talents who meet the requirement of the market, is becoming more and moreimportant in the field of higher education in our country. Enhancing the construction of teachingstaff in higher vocational colleges is the key to improving the core competence of higher vocationalcolleges and the quality of higher vocational education. As the core content of human resourcemanagement, performance management is an important link in strengthening the construction ofteaching staff. Therefore, performance management should be introduced into the process of theconstruction of teaching staff in higher vocational colleges. According to the characteristics andrequirements of higher vocational education, higher vocational colleges should adopt a scientificand effective teachers’ performance management system so as to stimulate the teachers’ workingpotential, improve the management efficiency and the core competence and realize the strategicobjectives.By applying the basic theory of performance management, this thesis discusses the systemdesign and the implementation process of teachers’ performance management in higher vocationalcolleges. By analyzing the system of the teachers’ performance management in Zhejiang Textileand Fashion Vocational College, it not only summarizes the main effects of the teachers’performance management in this college, but also points out the main problems and the root causes.Therefore, it is necessary for Zhejiang Textile and Fashion Vocational College to re-build thesystem of the teachers’ performance management. According to the organization of teachers’performance management, performance planning, performance coaching, performance evaluation,the feedback and the application of the results of performance appraisal and so on, highervocational colleges should adopt the teachers’ performance evaluation index system which consistsof teachers’ professional ethics and vocational abilities and the career-oriented teachers’performance management system. At the same time, higher vocational colleges should ensure the smooth progress of teachers’ performance management by establishing the training system, theincentive mechanism and the appeal system of teachers’ performance management to ensure thereliability and the validity of teachers’ performance appraisal. Therefore, we must set up correctconcept of performance management, foster a sense of full participation in performancemanagement and establish teachers’ performance management system which embodies thecharacteristics of higher vocational education and teachers’ professional development, in order togive full play to the real utility and the best efficiency of teachers’ performance management inhigher vocational colleges.
