Study On Optimization Of The Curriculum Of General Education In Colleges And Universities In China

With the phenomenon “Branch of Society” gets more and more serious and the socialneed of versatile talents who develop in an all-round way, developing General Educationhas been the number one issue of Higher Education. General Education combines aneducational pattern with a philosophy, which is raised against the narrow ProfessionalEducation. During the tens of years, the colleges and universities in China have got someachievements on the way to development of General Education. Curriculum is one ofimportant ways to carry out General Education, but it exits some inadequate aspects likethe lack of attention to the General education, imperfect Management mechanism,weakness of teacher resources, unimproved teaching facilities.This passage uses the methods of description, documentary analysis and case study,together with the General Education’s implementary status, curriculum characters, thetheories of Optimized Teaching and Effective Teaching, on the basis of the general policytowards the General Education in China and from the three levels of students, teachers andschool, this paper states the optimization of General Education and its curriculum systemin colleges and universities in China. In the level of students, they should be trained howto study alone and told to pay more attention to the General Education curriculum; in thelevel of teachers, research teaching and practical teaching should be encouraged. At thesame time, teachers should arrange the teaching plans with care, use the flexible anddiverse teaching styles, make full use of multi-media in teaching; in the level of school, onone hand, to the General Education, the attention should be stronger, the protection systemshould be improved, the center of Teaching Guide should be set up. On the other hand,school should put money into the development of General Education Curriculum, enhancethe supervision to its implement, and improve its teachers’ level and so on.
