Currently,as the core of educational reform of teacher education reform-teacherprofessional development,has become an important trend.Promoting the developmentof teacher education is an effective way to improve the social status of teachers.PEteachers is an important part of teachers,whose professional development is animportant factor to promote the reform of school physical education and improvetheir teaching.Therefore,it is very necessary to use the theory of teacher professionaldevelopment to guide the scientific development of the physical educationteachers.In this thesis, using the scientific research methods of literature data、questionnaire、interview、mathematical statistics,stratified random sample of259PEteachers from seven districts of Urumqi County middle school,to whom study thesituation and countermeasures for teachers’ professional development,aimed atputting forward reasonable proposals by analyzing the status and identifyingproblems.providing reference which is to further enhancing the level of specializedsecondary school physical education teachers teaching and constructing high-qualitysports teachers. The main conclusions drawn by the study are as follows:(1)Middle school PE teachers in Urumqi,has more reasonable age structure,tending to be younger as a whole.It is very different between the proportion of maleand female teachers,even less in the compilation of female teachers.Academicqualifications is at basic standards,which is none sports professional teachers.Thereexists a part of no titles teachers in the title structure.(2)The majority of middle school PE teachers in Urumqi has a clear plan andcorrect motivation about their professional development. Teachers in the schooldevelop teaching and research activities positively,and they satisfied them. But onlyhalf of the teachers participate in the display class competitions and teaching skillscompetition.(3)Middle school PE teacher in Urumqi in the needs of expertise,male teachersis higher demand for sports teaching expertise and knowledge of sportstraining,otherwise female teachers is in higher demand for sports teaching knowledge,and technical knowledge,old teacher is needs of physical education,health knowledge,and technical knowledge.(4)What middle school PE teachers in Urumqi needs to improve theprofessional competence is the technical movements,teachers skills andlanguage.Which needs most to improve and update technology are aerobics with dance、basketball sports.The second is the jump events in track and fieldevents,The third is snow sports.(5)The vast majority of middle school PE teachers in Urumqi agree toresearch work,and emphasis on the improvement of research capacity. In masteringmodern educational technology,Young teachers grasp the situation much better thanolder teachers.But they need to improve the capacity of the production of teachingcourseware.(6)Middle school PE teachers in Urumqi have the correct attitude ofprofessionals. low pay and little promotion space are important factors affecting theprofessional attitude.(7)Nearly half of Middle school PE teachers in Urumqi does not participate incontinuing education training,what should increases is continuing education effortsof middle school PE teachers,and providing the need of physical education teacherstraining.(8)So far,middle school PE teachers in Urumqi who want to developprofessionals are mainly for:Classroom observation、Training and Continuing、Teaching Reflection、 Peers,etc.But,limited conditions such as school sportsresources、not enough leadership’s support、personal economic conditions、Arduoustasks and other factors, affecting the physical education teachers to participate inprofessional development activities In varying degrees.
