Nowadays the professionalism of the music teachers in primary and middle schools is often questioned by the public as half-professionalized. However, the professionalism of those music teachers is irreplaceable when viewing from the nature of their work, the particularity of the targeted group and the significance of the elemental education in elevating the entire quality of the nation. Therefore proper analysis of the composition and the levels of their professionalism will be helpful in elevating the professionalization and winning the recognition of the public.The kernel content of the professionalism of music teachers is the development of professionalization of teacher itself, therefore thorough investigation to this field will benefit the professionalization of music teachers. The author has investigated some music teachers and researchers in primary and middle schools in Urumqi through questionnaire forms, individual interviewing and comparison analysis, and has analyzed the current status and existing problems of those teachers and also raised some suggestions to the development of the professionalization of music teachers. This essay comprising four parts as follows except the conclusion:Part I. Present the methodology, significance, scope and target of this research and investigation. And summarize the current status of this topic through reviewing of the developing of the theory and practice of professionalization of teacher.Part II. Present the terminology of Professional, Professionalization and Professionalisation of Teacher and so forth, as well as the tendency of the research to the development of professionalized music teachers both home and abroad.Part III. Investigate the current status of the professional development of music teachers in Urumqi from their affection, knowledge, competence and on-job training of the profession.Part IV. Raise some suggestions to promote the professional development of music teachers of primary and middle schools in Urumqi via systematical analysis of the existing problems.Conclusively, adhering to the problems we are confronting in the professional development of the music teachers in Urumqi, two teacher educating modes are introduced to be implemented in the field of education of music teachers in Urumqi to help promoting the development of the specialty of music teaching as well as the progress of the professionalizing of music teachers.
