The exercises in the language teaching materials is an important place for students in their own learning and speech practice, and it is also as a bridge for students understanding the world, experiencing life and forming the correct emotional attitude and values.It is because of the language textbook exercises in language teaching materials in a key position and it can not alternative, so that it has an important significance in language learning and curriculum reform. Therefore, systematic study of the design features and the use of the language exercises has a very important practical significance.This research can be divided into four sections. The first section sets out the development of language teaching materials after-school exercise is a rising and scientific analysis. and on this basis, we analize The dominant characteristics of after-aritcal practice,such as knowledge expansion, activate the students’ interest in learning, digestion and consolidate knowlodge.Then,we also statement its’ recessive trait,such as,after-artical practice as the editor of the text to understand implied, teachers develop teaching objectives based on students to experience the place of language proficiency, teachers design teaching and determine the teaching content-oriented, develop students’ inquiry self-learning abilitylatent function.The second section statement the point of view of language courses target in three dimensions such as the process of speech, thought processes, affective processes and exercises types of questions, then it analyze the status quo on the design of the new curriculum in junior middle school language textbook exercises the last by means of a questionnaire survey we analyzed the usage of the new curriculum in junior middle school language textbook exercises. This survey mainly includes: the use of students and teachers in junior middle school language textbook exercises practice learning initiative usage of students and teachers in junior middle school language textbook exercises wish evaluation of students and teachers in junior middle school language textbook exercises students and teachers in junior middle school language exercises in the design and use of comments and recommendations.The third section analyzes the existence of the problem and the causes of the new curriculum in junior middle school language textbook exercises. By the analysis of the data of the second plate, the kit problem exists in the design level can mainly be summarized as the following: Speaking, reading and writing skills training, the proportion of imbalance students to listen to criticism, evaluation and innovative thinking ability of students training exercises subjects design lack of interoperability and sequence guidelines for the students’ learning process is not detailed enough students explore way of implementing the cooperation autonomous learning is not enough single kinds of questions, and the topic is not flexible lack of literary knowledge training teachers and students can not be efficient use of the exercises.The fourth section in the design and use of the new curriculum in junior middle school language textbook exercises operability recommend actions: In terms of design, the kit should focus on diversification from the kinds of questions, enhanced sequence and operability and to train students’ critical construction and the ability to create three efforts to make improvements in usage, teachers and students should fully mobilize their own teachingenthusiasm and learning. So the flexibility to use the exercises to avoid modeling and good combined exercises with the students’ test content, exercises guide students learn to use their own learning.
