1. The research background and significanceTeaching workload evaluation is defined by qualitative and quantitative indicators as one of the activities that reflect the reality of the work of teaching and hidden teaching work. Scientific, reasonable and fair evaluation system of teachers’ teaching workload is the prerequisite and basis for teachers’performance appraisal. It can effectively ensure the quality of education and promote the development of teachers’teaching ability. It is also the important way of understanding the working conditions of teachers and monitoring the process of teaching for educational institutions. A well assessment of teaching workload can fully stimulate teachers’ enthusiasm, give the fullest play to their subjective initiatives, timely find teaching work-related problems, improve teachers’ working efficiency and promote teachers’ professional growth to improve the overall quality of education.However, there still exist many problems of the current teaching workload evaluation of teachers in colleges and universities such as no comprehensive evaluation contents, no reasonable evaluation method, no real reflection on the teachers’teaching workload and teaching performance and no deserving recognition of the teachers’ labor value, etc. All lead to teachers’lower enthusiasm on teaching. To study and analysis this problem, we focus on the evaluation of university teaching workload to put forward the advice for improvement. 2. Research ContentWe discussed the current situation of undergraduate teaching work evaluation of teachers in colleges and universities, analyzed the existing problems, discussed the main content of undergraduate teaching work evaluation of teachers in colleges and universities and put forward the measures and suggestions for improvement. Through59literatures, we discussed the research situation of university teachers’teaching workload evaluation at home and abroad, compared the basic situation of university teachers’ undergraduate teaching workload evaluation of5colleges and universities and conducted a survey among236objects in1university.3. Research ObjectivesFrom document research, policy analysis, comparative study and reductive summing-up, this paper analyzed the theory, policy, and experience of the university teachers’teaching workload evaluation, discussed the current situation of the university undergraduate teaching workload evaluation and provided the evaluation from experience.Compared with some university undergraduate teaching workload evaluation systems, this study revealed the major problems of university teachers’ undergraduate teaching workload evaluation and found the measures and advice according to the actual teaching work.4. Research MethodsThis study applied the methods of literature search, policy analysis, cases comparison and questionnaire survey. The general idea of the research methods in this paper can be divided into three steps. The first one was qualitative speculation research, the second was positive analysis and the last was induction and deduction. Based on a large amount of literature and policies and regulations, this paper was made through qualitative study from many aspects and angles, which included document research, historical analysis, national comparison, case analysis, summary extraction; via questionnaire survey and statistical analysis to make further positive analysis, and get different degrees of identity of different surveyed groups towards the questionnaire while analyzed the cognitive differences among different groups; based on the qualitative speculation and positive analysis, it conducted the induction reasoning, deduction and development as a whole.5. Course teaching (classroom teaching, lessons preparation, after-school tutoring including reading research reports and homework and exams)2. Practical teaching (experiment teaching, internship guidance, social practice and graduation project)3. Undergraduate extracurricular guidance (undergraduate tutor, guidance on science and technology innovation activities, thesis and graduation project and contest guidance)4. Basic teaching construction (Educational teaching reform project, teaching papers, teaching reform and research conference report and undergraduate teaching quality project)5. Educational reform (the modernization of educational technology, making teaching material, making teaching program, making teaching plan, teaching website, informatization construction of courseware, assisting teaching including teaching secretary and teaching management work of teaching management staff)6. Other teaching activities (teaching contest, demonstration lesson, open class, optional course, outside class lecture, teaching supervision, educational teaching policy consultation and enrollment and employment assisting work)5.3Put Forward Strategies and Advice for the Improvement of University Teachers’ Undergraduate Teaching Workload Evaluation 1. Characteristic and Innovation of the ResearchThis study systematically analyzed the current situation of undergraduate teaching workload evaluation in universities, briefly compared and analyzed the basic situation of teaching workload evaluation both at home and abroad, compared several actual projects of teaching workload evaluation in some universities and colleges at home, reveled the main problems during evaluation, discussed the contents of evaluation and put forward the strategies and advice for the improvement of university teachers’undergraduate teaching workload evaluation.
