Analysis And Countermeasures Of The Role Orientation Of College Counselors

The system of College Counselors has gone through more than half centuries, which has cultivated and offered waves of high-quality qualified builders and successors for the cause of socialism in China; and it has played a key role in college students’ ideological and political education, which has been an integral part of education in colleges and universities. However, because of the deepening and development of the socialist modernization construction, the vicissitudes of the domestic and international environment, it has brought a great influence to modern college students’ life, thought, education and many other aspects, which has put forward higher requirements on counselors’ role play. The traditional role of the counselor has not completely met the requirements of the times, and we must develop new roles with adaptation, which need in addition a scientific orientation. This thesis based on detailed study of literature and theory of domestic and foreign instructors, conducted an in-depth investigation for in-service instructors by questionnaires and individual interviews and some other forms to analysis the counselors’ role orientation and problems it has, in order to find out the reasons. And then put forward the method of the role orientation under the view of professional counselors.This thesis is divided into three parts as follows:The first part is the introduction, mainly includes the selected topic’s origin and significance, the present situation of domestic and foreign research, the research content and its method.The second part is the second and third chapter of the thesis, is one of the main part of the paper. First of all, we should start with the concept and the value of work of college counselors in order to put forward the social role, the role of education and the self role that counselors should play well in the new era which is combined with the current situation changes and new require. The roles of education, as the core role, mainly including guide students’ ideological and political education, manage and service their study and life; the counselors should also help the development of students’ physical and mental health, offer occupation planning and employment guidance, and advance the harmonious campus construction. Secondly, face the reality that basic on the scientific orientation which according to the survey and interview data, find out the reality problems as the role played in the practical work, such as the unclear and the conflict of the role. Finally, by means of asking problems and practical demands and so on, this thesis can analyse the reasons of the bottleneck in counselors’ roles that they played. For example, the influence of role orientation can come from social, institution, individual reasons and some other factors.The third part is the fourth chapter of the article, is one of the main part, and also the conclusion part of this thesis. This part will put forward countermeasures and suggestions which are mainly aimed at the problems from the roles that counselors played, which based on the professional of counselors as the direction, goal and scale, to strengthen both internal and external adjustment of the role of counselors and absorb foreign advanced experience in education.
