During 30 years course of opening up and reformation , stimulated by the reformation in system and the deepening in opening up, our country gets a great achievement on the economic construction. But , at the same time ,there are some problems follow ,such as the high education around by the atmosphere of reformation and opening up face the low employment rate difficulty and the problem of the student moral quality construction and so on. Dealing with these problems successfully is concerned closely with the healthy and lasting development of the high education, is concerned greatly with what type of the talents that our country raise. But, to dealing with all the problems need every person's coordination.During the course of study on the literature and the positive investigation, we find that the actual professional role played by the counselors has a gap with the positioning which is defined by the government. The objective reason is that the definition given by the government is not so specific, not so concrete and not so precise. The meso reason is that the colleges still take the role of the counselor as that in the past time , they can not advance the role of the professional counselors by the time. The micro reason is that the people's idea about the role of the counselor is limited and old, such as the students think that their counselor is less important than their teachers.During the study, we still find that there are some problems in the management of the career. Such as the searchers are always take the counselor job as the helper in the difficult searching period, and also the colleges do less management activities on the career. After discussing the problems, some conclusion are concluded, such as the traditional role for the professional counselor can not be kept ,these roles must transferred for the past-time counselors, this can function very well by the example of tinghua university. The modern role defined by the government need a group of expert and professional counselors to act.We can achieve these two goals by modernize the management of career including the establishment of the job description and the management of the recruiting , training and so on .
