In the aim section of “Ordinary high school biology experimental curriculum” inChina, the following requirements for the development of senior high school students’ability to deal with and explain the learning materials are put forward:“usemathematical methods to deal with and explain the data; make reasonable judgmentsaccording to the evidence; introduce methods, results and make the viewpoints byusing correct terms and diagrams”Cultivating students’ ability of dealing with and explaining the learning materialsin biology instruction is one of the indispensible parts in improving students’exploration ability, changing students’ learning ways and further promoting thecurriculum reform. How to promote the reform of students’ learning methods is one ofthe key points of this curriculum reform. One of the ideas and strategies proposed is“to attach great importance to cultivating students’ ability of collecting and dealingwith the information available, which requires the teachers guide the students toobserve through eyes, to analyze by brain and to express in language.Biology, as a member of integrated science course, has been in its third yearthrough which great changes in the test questions and structures have occurred. Moreand more information questions have been employed to examine students’ ability. Theinformation questions, which are always based on the materials of the latest scienceand technology of biology, the heated issues in the development of life science, thereal problems in social life and biotic experiments, etc., offering material informationto the students by texts, data, diagrams, figures, graphs, etc., are to examine students’ability of solving practical problems by using the knowledge available, the ability ofexpressing biotic information like understanding the texts, diagrams and forms, andthe ability of collecting information, processing and dealing with information, transforming information, communicating information.Based on the author’s teaching experience, the dissertation is to offer somepossible teaching strategies from the several aspects of the ability of obtaininginformation, analyzing the information and transforming information as well as language competence, combining the questions emerged in Guangdong IntegratedScience Examinations of the latest three years.
