Because of its special disciplines, other disciplines cannot compete with the history education for developing students’ historical awareness, enhancing the sense of national responsibility and improving modern citizens’ humanities. With the deepening and development of a new round of reform in the high school’s history curriculum, the propulsion and implementation of new curriculums is setting higher requirements for professional history teachers, and presenting a more serious challenge to attitudes and behaviors of teachers. It is increasingly recognized that the overall improvement of the quality of teachers, the practitioners of curriculum reform, and the deepening of the degree of specialization curriculum are crucial important, since they determine the success of the reform; Meanwhile, with the deepening of specialized theoretical researches of domestic and foreign teachers, people are increasingly concerned about teachers, especially those in the growth and development stage. In this context, this study will use the famous history teacher Chen Guobing as a typical example to discuss this special discipline-history. By combining literature, interviews, and case study and analyzing his characteristics, subject characteristics and influence factors, we are able to explore the core issue of the teacher growth-growth mechanism. The study is divided into five parts:Introduction. This chapter introduces the origin of this thesis, the significance of research themes, recent researches about this topic, and the innovation and shortcomings of this paper.Chapter I, it discusses the connotation and extension of a famous history teacher for his growth in professional fields. Using it as a reference, we can make a theoretical stage division for the growth path of a famous teacher from two more objective points-human development as well as teacher professionalization. In this part, the paper mainly introduces the Maslow’s theory of demand level, and divides the growth path of a famous teacher into five stages according to the different needs of human development, they are youth preparation stage, initial work stage, career maturity stage, breakthrough stage and fast development stage.Chapter II, by studying literature, we analyze characteristics of groups of famous history teacher through horizontal and vertical comparison. For vertical comparison, we do the analysis by linking to the key words-"the discipline of history "and "teacher", and for horizontal comparison, we do this mainly by combining the external teaching behavior and inner qualities. Chapter Ⅲ, we study the main case of a history teacher-Chen Guobing teacher, respectively from three aspects-his growth environment, the growth stage of division, as well as history teaching specialization explore. For the growth environment, the policy, family environment and the education through his growth lay the foundation for his growth. The hard and soft working environment is its development booster. On the analysis of growth stage characteristics, the growth of Mr. Chen is also divided into different stages and shows the different characteristics. On teaching specialization explore, the teaching behavior, the researching and thinking of history teaching and teaching style of Mr. Chen are all show professional and individuation.Chapter Ⅳ, based on case studies of growth factors of a famous history teacher, we explore the internal and external factors of famous teacher growth. For the external factors, they include: national level policy lead, social level identity, school level cultivation mechanism, family support and students’ positive feedback. For internal factors, they include study, behavior, thinking and research. Finally, based on the analysis above, we can do something meaningful to explore the establishment of a universal mechanism in order to promote the disciplines of history and history teachers.
