Since the1980s, the application of multimedia technology has become a trend in classroom. Due to the inherent advantage of Internet in the transferring of knowledge and the attraction of students’attention, multimedia teaching mode has been adopted by more and more high school chemistry teachers at present.However, there still exist quite a few problems for this new teaching method, for instance, the PowerPoint presentations made by teachers still need to be further improved, the students feel hard to have a good master of the important and difficult contents, a few teachers depend on the multimedia equipments too much, which leads to the result that students have difficulty in taking notes at class, and so on and so forth. And therefore, it has both theoretical and practical meaning to invest the utilization conditions and teaching reform practice of multimedia teaching method in high school chemistry teaching process.This research mainly focused on the science teachers of middle schools from three areas, which are Guangzhou city, Changsha city and Xinhua county, with our self-made survey paper, named as "Questionnaire of the utilization conditions of multimedia teaching methods in junior middle school". In addition, the interviews were made in each school on purpose, concerning the topic of utilization conditions of on multimedia in classroom, in order to understand the reason thoroughly.The research results goes as follows:Under the current teaching situation, it is comparatively frequent for the teachers from three different regions to use multimedia teaching methods, and most teachers find that compared to the traditional teaching ways, multimedia teaching has advantage in demonstrating large amount of knowledge to students, in expressing abstract knowledge vividly, in attraction of students’attention and in arousing students’learning interest. Nevertheless, the multimedia still cannot replace the traditional teaching method. Hence, the quality and the efficiency of chemistry teaching cannot be truly improved unless the chemistry teachers in junior high school choose the best teaching means according to the teaching contents, and combine these two methods together effectively.
