The development of critical thinking is prerequisite for innovation. Mathematical critical thinking is the critical thinking in mathematics. Mathematic teachers are obligated to guide students in active thinking, which can develop students’critical thinking skill to the maximum, thus help students to solve mathematical problems independently with reflexivity and creativity.Early in middle20th century, critical thinking research has been the hot research topic in western education. However, it grows to a research developing trend in China only until end of20th century, after which critical thinking ability is gradually considered as equally important as problem solving ability, self learning, creativity and information processing ability. Although, we have already integrated critical thinking into various teaching subjects, from researches at home and abroad, but few studies in lower primary grades critical thinking development are found. In this thesis, by research and teaching experience, first, we explain the necessity and possibility for cultivating lower primary grades’ math critical thinking, then we bring up the5key evaluation indexes of critical thinking for primary grade——detecting own mistakes, courage to speak out people’s mistake, independent thinking, curiosity and exploration motivation——based on former research and their young mental and physical characteristics. And present an idea that critical thinking should be the highlight in education of lower primary grades. Last, we discuss the typical signs of critical thinking lacking and the root causes.New course teaching,focusing on new knowledge teaching, ability formation and thinking training, is the basic teaching model to improve students’ mental and academic ability. Homework is the best way to test the learning efficiency and improve students’ creativity.So, based on problems found in teaching process, theory researches and teaching practice, firstly, this article comes up with the opinion that to improve the critical thinking in mathematics, we should pay more attention to students’ skepticism, awareness of self-reflection, exploration awareness and curiosity in the process of new course teaching. Then, we analyze the strategy to enlighten students on critical thinking in mathematics in the process of guiding students’ work. Those strategies include, combining classroom exercise with homework for independent thinking ability, coordinating exercise to explain with presentation slides for discrimination ability, integrating work of other’s check with self-examination for self-reflection ability.
