As a new pattern of Chinese higher education, the target of which is to turn from elites to general students, independent institute is not only the fruit of the reform and innovation of Chinese higher education but also an important part of socialist colleges. Moral education is essential and it is strategically significant to strengthen the employment service and employment guidance of independent institute graduates, especially at present time when the employment situation is severe. State Education Committee issued "Temporary Provision on Employment of Graduates from University and College" and in the document No.16points out "The graduates employment guidance work is one of important part of higher education, and it helps the graduates grasp the national employment guidelines, adopt correct outlook of choosing occupation and guarantee the employment." Because of the special operation system and student recourses, the employment competitiveness of the graduates from independent institution is a little bit weak, and so it is quite important to carry out the employment guidance work. However, due to its short history of establishment in higher education and inadequacy for maturity, there are still many shortcomings and problems in the employment guidance work of independent institution. Based on a large amount of references and materials, analysis of the investigation and communications with students and staff of employment guidance and information and experience the author gets during her teaching working in an independent institution, the author systematically analyzes the major problems and their reasons, and then discusses the countermeasures and suggestions.The first part:the employment features of graduates and the importance of strengthening employment guidance work in independent institution. The author begins this thesis with the operating features and the employment features of graduates in independent institution, and then mainly states the significance of strengthening the employment guidance work in independent institution for self development of the institution, full employment of the graduates and sustainable development of the students.The second part:the analysis of the major problems and their causes in employment guidance work of independent institution. During the10years’development of independent institution, its employment guidance work has achieved preliminary accomplishment and played an important role. During the ten years of development, employment guidance work of independent institution has been attached importance on, and initially established specialized employment guidance organ and professional guidance teachers. However, there still exist many problems and shortcomings, such as, inaccurate target, backward methods and so on. As for all those problems, causes from many aspects can be found out, mainly, the center position of the employment guidance work in independent institution is not acknowledged, the organ is stilled very underdeveloped, the source of the teachers is mixed and in the shortage and professional degree is not very high, the theory of holding up the content is in the lack, and so on. The objective analysis of the major problems and their causes in employment guidance work of independent institution lay a foundation for the countermeasure followed in the next part.The third part:on the basis of the previous part, this part mainly discusses the countermeasures to reinforce the employment guidance work of independent institution. First of all, the institution authority should lay emphasis on the employment guidance work, and all the staff should take part in the education task and establish a complete and sound work system. The second, the institution should strengthen the construction of guidance teacher staff, including setting up a team of full-time and part-time staff and a training system, etc. The third, the institution should design scientifically the content of employment guidance, mainly ideological and political education, mental health education of the undergraduates, the development of professional skill and practice skill, and the innovation and cntrepreneurship education. At last, the employment guidance work of independent institution should continually develop new method, including the informatization of employment guidance and the foundation of training base.
