With the further development of Chinese course reform, the dominant position of thestudents has become more and more outstanding. As a consequence, the teachers shouldattach importance to individual and diversity when teaching reading. Teaching classical poetryis not an exception. It faces the new challenges and brings new thoughts to the backgroundknowledge introduction, a practical link. In the classroom teaching, there exist manyproblems when they introduce the background knowledge.First, teachers play a single rolewhen presenting background knowledge, neglecting the students’ dominant position. Second,teachers don’t make good use of introduction, hindering the students’ understanding. Third,the content presented by the teacher is not carefully selected, influencing the students’thinking. Finally, the way of the teachers’ presenting deviates form the students’ needs and soon. As for these problems, the essay intends to do systematic research into the backgroundknowledge introduction in teaching classical poetry, arrange the related content, analyses howit is used in classical poetry and explore the ways to use it. In addition, promote theapplication of background knowledge in teaching classical poetry by employing some strategy,in order to serve the teaching and make contribution to constructing the high efficientclassroom.During the process, I collected related material by using the documents, so that I couldfully understand the present situation in which the background knowledge is used in teachingand fix my indirection and angle.After analyzing the background knowledge and investigatingthe reading teaching and interpretation of the text meaning, the essay is based on InformationTheory, D.P. Ausabal’s ad. Vance organizer theory and Bruner’s structuralism curriculum view.Meanwhile, it analyses how the background is used in classical poetry teaching in detail. It ishoped that it can contribute to analyzing and understanding the words, trying seeking a newbreakthrough on how to put the knowledge into the classroom teaching. In general, the essayis hoped to make background knowledge plays a greater and more valuable part in thecurriculum reform by studying the application of background knowledge into classical poetryteaching, so that it will lay foundation for teaching classical poetry. The essay is planned to fall into six parts. The introduction states the problempresentation, the definition of the basic concept and the theoretical basis as well as theresearch contents and innovation points. It lays foundations for the essay. The first chapterstudents the present teaching situation in which the background knowledge is applicated inthe ancient poetry teaching. The second chapter does research into the role that thebackground knowledge plays in the ancient poetry teaching. The third chapter, also the keychapter of the essay, analyses the concrete application about how the background knowledgeis used in poetry teaching. The last chapter states several relationships which will be dealtwith when the background knowledge is used. ie, the relationship between the teachers’introduction and the students’ search, the relationship between the background knowledgeand the to interpretation and relationship between the background knowledge and pluralisticinterpretation. The epilogue makes a conclusion of the essay.
