According to English Curriculum Standard (2003,2011), multimedia resources should beapplied in the language teaching to enrich the teaching form and make context more authentic.Since then, the multimedia-assisted teaching method has been applied in the language teaching.Simultaneously, many concerned researches have been made. However, it is obvious that thepresent domestic research on multimedia-assisted language teaching still focuses on theoretical;the related studies on rural middle school are still rare.The study aims to investigate the present condition of application of multimedia-assistedlanguage teaching in rural middle school. The study instruments include questionnaires, literatureand interview. The subjects of the study include230secondary school students and26Englishteachers in Yong’an.Through the data analysis, this study holds that secondary school in rural area has beenequipped with the multimedia-assisted teaching facilities. Most students and students have apositive attitude on multimedia-assisted language teaching. More importantly, multimedia-assistedlanguage teaching has a positive effect on students’ comprehensive ability to use language.
