Tool and Die Technology is an important symbol of a country industrial product manufacturing level. After joining the WTO, China has become a manufacturing center of the world. The demand for Tool and Die Technology applied talents especially for those who have high professional qualifications has increased in the job market. Accordingly the die design and manufacturing major in vocational colleges has greatly developed. But the main problem for graduates from these colleges is inexperience. Many enterprises must train them again. The reason, mainly, is that those colleges still use the old Diploma Program cultivating mode and ignore the application ability training.As the person in charge of mold design and manufacturing major in Jiangxi Aeronautical Vocational and Technical College, the author carried out a bold exploration on teaching reform about the mold design and manufacturing major according to the teaching training objectives of higher vocational colleges, and the reality of schools, students and the market. To design the students’knowledge, ability and quality structure and training programs based on the idea of "curriculum design aiming at positions, teaching improvement aiming at practice", he has performed abundant reform and innovation in many aspects including from teaching programs, curriculum design, teaching content, to teaching methods, teaching means and etc. To increase and improve both quantity and quality of teaching, including the experiments, large operations, training courses, graduation design, internships and other practical teaching steps, he has tried to help students to be involved in or participate in gaining the experience of the entire mold process including "Product Analysis-Mold design-Mold manufacturing-Mold assembly-Mold testing or modulating-Products processing". After experiencing the integrity of the process, students have been well-trained and exercised and made significant progress in all aspects such as practical ability, learning ability, teamwork spirit, and the capabilities of applying new knowledge or new technology. With effective enhancement of the students’ overall quality and learning ability, the employment rate of graduates has also increased. For instance, when most students went to work in the companies, they could easily and quickly start to work properly and effectively on corresponding professional positions, which further confirmed the impressive good teaching results and effects.
