PE teachers shoulder important responsibilities in education. With the increasingly deepeningreform of education system, physical education does not refer to the simple addition of teaching andlearning. Moreover, it focuses on the cultivation of students’ comprehensive development. It requiresthat PE teachers should keep improving and innovating their educational abilities and teaching methods.Therefore, PE teachers undertake heavier teaching burdens and teaching pressure.The study aims at concluding the status quo of primary school PE teacher’s vocational andpsychological pressure at present in the eastern urban area in Beijing, investigating into their vocationalpsychological pressure, analyzing the affecting factors and putting forward corresponding measures toease the pressure. The paper focuses on elaborating on the PE teachers’ specialty when they are facedwith vocational and psychological pressure as one special teaching group. Besides, the paper also delvesinto the factors about the vocational and psychological pressure specific to PE teachers and proposes themeasures about how to deal with the vocational and psychological pressure. In addition, from theperspective of education, especially primary school education, the study investigates into the values andpsychological pressure among primary PE teachers in order to find out how to overcome thedeficiencies of primary school teachers’ vocational and psychological values as well as ease vocationaland psychological pressure. In this way, they can better adapt to the educational environment aftercurriculum reform. In the paper, four methodologies are adopted, i.e., literature research method,interview method, questionnaire survey method and conclusion method. Through interviews andquestionnaire survey, the author got some information about the status quo of primary school PEteachers’ vocational and psychological pressure in the eastern urban area, the source of the pressure,teachers’ attitude toward and expectations on curriculum reform, and their ability of implementingcurriculum reform. Based on adequate survey and research, the author compiles the thesis paper,chooses the measures suitable for overcoming PE teachers’ vocational and psychological pressure toprovide references for PE teachers so that they can adapt to curriculum reform.Teachers’ vocational and psychological pressure mainly comes from individuals, school andsociety. Through the study, it is found that primary school teachers in eastern urban area basically have12types of vocational and psychological pressure. The paper analyzes the degree of pressure and ranksthem in order, i.e., students’ safety> attendance appraisal> teachers’ teaching age> teachingmanagement> difference among schools> matches and activities> professional title appraisal>teaching research> interpersonal relationship> salary treatment> role positioning> students’ parents.The paper puts forward some suggestions on improving the status quo of teachers’ vocational andpsychological pressure, elevating the social status of primary school PE teachers in the eastern urbanarea, improving working environment, providing feasible and reliable methods for easing PE teachers’vocational and psychological pressure, enhancing ideological education for teachers, improving teaching environment, intensifying the investment into schools’ physical exercise facilities andinstrument as well as reducing pressure and burden on PE teachers. In addition, the paper proposes thatreal-time monitoring on teachers’ psychological health should be strengthened and that the actualproblems in their work and life should be solved. A sound and favorable atmosphere of “respectingteachers and focusing on education” should be created. A good evaluation mechanism should beestablished. In addition, self-adjustment should be enhanced to promote mental health.Through learning the knowledge related to psychological cultivation, the primary PE teachers canadjust their perspectives of handling problems and easing their nervousness. We can also start from themethods for evaluating teachers, set up better training courses for teachers, focus on the importance ofteachers, emphasize the status quo of PE teachers’ development, create a sound teaching environmentand solve teachers’ vocational and psychological pressure. Besides, we should correctly establish PEteachers’ images in society and elevate their social status so that they can be better recognized by society.Besides, we should enhance PE teachers’ sense of responsibility and sense of mission to shift their ideasand reduce the frequency of holding meetings, checking and assessment activities so that teachers canwork in a more favorable environment. At the meantime, we can provide sound theoretical support forfurther investigations into the source of PE teachers’ vocational and psychological pressure andcorresponding measures.
