There is reform upsurge in the field of education along with the advent of new century. Chinamakes great efforts in the popularization of compulsory education with an educational concept of“Health First”. As a result, the consciousness of “lifelong physical education” is as popular as“lifelong learning education. In primary and secondary schools, the teaching contents and methodsof the physical education have remained unchanged for such a long time, which is to say it is lackof innovation, interesting and activity. In this case, most of the students just use that time to relaxthe mind instead of building strengths and fitness, whereas they are unlikely to do physicalexercises actively. Dance sports, as an international project, are fashionable, relaxed andpassionate. Dance sport has become one of the most favorite sports since it was introduced intoour country a few decades ago, especially for teenagers and elderly people. If it can be introducedto the primary and secondary school, the physical class will be more active and enriched.Moreover, students will be much more motivated so that the goals of physical educationreformation can be achieved.This paper introduces the concept of the special program, as well as the features and values of thedance sport project based on the mental and physical characteristics of children in third grade ofprimary school. It also contents the feasible analysis of the introduction of dance sports and statesthe significance of developing dance sport course at Dongying No.3primary school. In order toobtain a full understanding in the development of dance sports in Donying, I will investigate andstudy the current situations using literature study, interview, questionnaire, field survey andmathematical statistics methods, and provide theoretical support on this basis.The samples in this study are teachers, students and parents come from10representative primaryschools. They are Dongying Experimental Primary School, Dongying Haihe Primary School,Dongying Chunhui Primary School, Dongying Lijing Primary School, Hekou He’an PrimarySchool, Hekou Experimental Primary School, Guangrao No.1Experimental Primary School,Guangrao Tonghe Primary School, Keli No.1Experimental Primary School and Lijin No.1Experimental Primary School.The following conclusion can be obtained from the study:a. Dance sport was led into China formally in1980s as a brand new sport project. This is aneffective way to the realization of lifelong physical education and it is required by physicaleducation reform. In addition, dance sport can encourage more participation in sportsactivities and improve physical fitness. Meanwhile, the introduction of dance sport course isan effective way to realize the quality-oriented education.b. In primary and secondary school, the objective of physical education should be “takeknowledge education as a core and come along with athletics education”. The creation ofdance sports course reflects the features and advantages of a school by improving theparticipation in activities.c. In order to implement the concept of “Health First” in primary school, it is necessary to set up the dance sport course as pupils have amazing mimic and learning ability. This course ishelpful to build fitness, regulate emotions, enhance friendship between students and enhancetheir creativities as well. Beyond that, it also can nurture and reserve talent for theprofessional dance team.d. Cultivate the spirits of supportiveness and co-operation of students based on the traits andconnotation of the dance sports. The dance sport course makes it possible to nurturingspirituality and relaxing the mind while having physical exercises and therefore, we can saythat this will be a strong support to set up this course in primary school.e. Currently, this project is normally performed as interest class or activity class. The result ofthe questionnaire shows that most of the students would like to have dance sport class inschool as those interest classed cannot face to a wider level because of some limitations.f. There is a good environment in Dongying in terms of dance sports. The education level ofdance sports has been improved dramatically and there are lots of dance lovers andprofessional players there. Additionally, the natural environment, culture background andhuman resources create favorable conditions for the development of dance sport course.g. According to the investigation of third grade students’dancing level, it is good generally andhence the introduction will be easier relatively.h. The current physical infrastructure and human resources are completely met the requirementsof setting up dance sports courses. Moreover, the experts, officers and teachers agree andsupport the development of dance sport course so that there are sufficient resources to do so.
