The implementation of the new curriculum has been a great challenge to thetraditional geography teaching, the new geography curriculum standard in high schoolrequires students not only to understand the basic knowledge and basic principle ofgeography, obtain the basic geography skills, but also to improve the geographicalthinking ability, understand geography subject system and cultivate new talents withinnovative consciousness and social responsibility. New curriculum reform requiresstudents to learn from passive acceptance in the past to actively meaningful learning.Students should not only learn knowledge and ways to acquire knowledge, but alsolearn to apply the knowledge we learned to our real life. So in actual teaching, we hadbetter inherit the traditional means of effective teaching and find new teachingmethods. Geographical concept is the basic structural unit of geographical thinkingand the basic unit of the construction of knowledge system. Concept map is a kind ofpropositional networks which are series of concept meaning and relationship of thepie chart, and it will be a variety of concepts and their relationships are similar to theknowledge storage structure arrangement in brain, which clearly reveals the essenceof meaning construction. As teachers’ teaching organization and students’ learning tool,applied to the discipline teaching. Concept map makes knowledge systematic andvisible, which is helpful for students to understand and master the knowledge system,and at the same time it is accord with the requirement of the new curriculum reform.This paper firstly introduces the definition of concept map, composition structure,present situation and deficiency in the domestic and foreign research, and finds outthe corresponding theoretical basis and builds the theoretical system of its own;Secondly according to the characteristics of the high school geography curriculum andthe characteristics of high school students, this paper introduces the function ofconcept map in high school geography teaching; Finally this paper introduces theInspiration concept mapping software, and takes the example of a picture in the firsthigh school geography textbook to make several concept maps.This paper has the following innovation: (1) According to Ausubel’s meaningful learning theory and constructivism theory,Bruner structuralism and coupling relationship structure theory, this paper studies thetheoretical basis of the geographical concept map teaching deeply and builds its owntheoretical system;(2) The preliminary concept map drawing process is introduced, and this papersimply introduces characteristics of the Inspirationr and application of the conceptmap software;(3) For the first time, this paper makes a concept map of the first high schoolgeography textbook.
