Correlation Of Hainan College Students Physical Activity Level And Physical Test Scores

Hainan province locates at the most southern edge of China, and the whole island is in tropical area, which makes college students in Hainan have very different daily life style and study habits. The latest national citizen physical test results show that the physical condition of college students in Hainan is becoming worse and worse, so sufficient attention to this situation needs to be drawn. Physical condition of college students is related to the level of physical activities obviously, while many reasons cause significant insufficient physical activities of college students in Hainan province.The project aims at physical tests on college students from five different colleges in Hainan province, and research methodology is based on the Standard Healthy Physical Condition of College Students, which is carried out by both Department of Education of China and All-China Sports Federation. International Physical activity Questionnaires(Chinese Version) are used to do investigation among the students who took physical tests. The correlation between the level of Hainan college students physical activities and physical health has been studied by analyzing obtained data from questionnaires statistically.Discussion of Results1. In the comprehensive score of college students’physical tests in Hainan province, girls have better ratio of A level and Pass than boys, which has obvious meaning of statistics. But the situation is not very positive. In different items of the test, strength and flexibility has higher score than any other items, and the average is higher than80percent, while other averages of items are not good, and lung capacity/body weight index’s average does not reach60percent. Score of standard body height and weight of boys is higher than that of girls, while in all the other items, girls have better scores than boys. And in the tests of standard body height and weight, lung capacity/body weight index, and tolerance scores, boys and girls have very different scores, and have significant meaning of statistics.2.For the level of Hainan college students physical activities, boys have more population in advanced physical activities, which is as high as48.1%, and for girls, it’s26.7%. Compare two numbers, and obvious meaning of statistics is found.Among Hainan college students, boys spend more time and energy in daily transportation, excise than girls, while girls spend more time and energy in housework, sitting and sleeping.3.Comprehensively speaking, Hainan college students’ physical activity level is highly related to tests score, and the correlative coefficient of boys is higher. Excise is significantly related to tests scores and all items’ scores positively, while sitting and sleeping have important correlation coefficient to tests’scores negatively.Excise has the highest correlation coefficient to body weight for both female and male, and has the second highest correlation coefficient to males’ tolerance. Excise also has very high correlation coefficient to females’ BMI. Physical activity level has the highest correlation coefficient to female’s and male’s BMI and tolerance. Meanwhile it has the most effective influence to body shape, and improves tolerance and heart and lung capability significantly.
