The Twenty-First Century is the age of information. Educational informatization has already been the major part for national informatization. Moreover, the idea that combining information technology and teaching together, attracts more and more atten-tions, and the teaching style is constantly changed, as well as the learning environment is changing frequently. With the rapid development of modern information technology, geographic information system (GIS) has become a public platform of the public ser-vice. Many experts and scholars have applied themselves to assisting High School ge-ography Teaching since GIS was incorporated into New High School Curriculum Stan-dards of Geography in2003, providing a large number of theories for GIS-aided In-struction.Nowadays GIS software using in basic education is still professional software. Some of numerous kinds of courseware adopted high-level techniques. On the contrary, educational result was worse because they did not follow educational principles."High school geography GIS auxiliary teaching system" is the development of Wuhan Zhongdi Digital Technology Co., Ltd. based on a new generation of high school geography teaching software for MapGIS K9data center architecture. System has open data man-agement pattern, simple operation, friendly interface, the advantages of the utility menu, avoid the professional GIS software and hardware conditions are not sufficient data re-sources, and teacher training lacks and so on. Better able to assist high school geogra-phy teaching, meet the needs of high school geography learning. Based on "High school geography GIS auxiliary teaching system" as an example, this article discusses the GIS assisted teaching system in the application of the high school geography teaching. Hope that it can do some help for GIS basic education and basic education mode of Geogra-phy.The paper summarized and analyzed the application status of "High school geog-raphy GIS auxiliary teaching system" in geography teaching at home and abroad and described the theoretical basis for use of the "High school geography GIS auxiliary teaching system" applied in secondary school geography teaching. Feasibility Analysis are discussed from four aspects:the secondary school curriculum standards require-ments, the development of computer technology and education informatization, the dif-ficulties of professional GIS software application and the unique advantage of "High school geography GIS auxiliary teaching system". What’s more, basic operation and function of "High school geography GIS auxiliary teaching system" are described. To highlight the advantages of teaching assisted by "High school geography GIS auxiliary teaching system", the paper dissected specific examples in "High school geography GIS auxiliary teaching system" used in geography lessons from a class of senior geography teaching. The paper concluded the advantages of "High school geography GIS auxiliary teaching system" applied in secondary school geography teaching in the end. System is put forward in the process of application advantages:classroom content rich variety and updated in real time, heavy and difficulty knowledge attract students and easy to under-stand, easy to cultivate the students’ geography information literacy.
