Athletics gymnastics in China has been a concern sports. It made outstandingcontributions in the completion of the Olympic gold medal mission and create superiorathletic performance, and highlighting China’s comprehensive strength. It has become atreasure of Chinese competitive sports. However, Athletics Gymnastics in our countrypublic health field, school education has failed to play its due role. It is mainly reflectedin: Athletics Gymnastics projects and content are rarely carried out in the field of publicfitness; The fundamental Athletics Gymnastics in physical education of primary andsecondary schools to reduce and disappear gradually; schools horizontal bar, parallelbars, vault gymnastics equipment unprovoked idle; Gymnastics professional students ofthe college sports departments and sports professional institutions has been reduced, andthe emergence of the fault phenomenon. This article is based on the aboveunderstanding, to carry out a study of the functions of Athletics Gymnastics, designed toallow people to the athletics gymnastics has a comprehensive and in-depthunderstanding of, and provide assistance for the development of Athletics Gymnastics.This paper through documentation method, survey interviews and logical analysis,analyze the competitive gymnastics positive function and negative function in fitness,education and military aspects, concluded as follows:(1) Athletics Gymnastics is not only has the general fitness function, also has aspecial fitness function. Its special fitness function mainly includes: the development ofthe human body special athletic ability; comprehensive and targeted exercise; improvethe body’s strength, flexibility and sensitive quality.(2)Athletics gymnastics has the education function of intellectual education, moraleducation, aesthetic education three aspects. Its function of intellectual education ismainly reflected in: the improvement of the practitioners of the central nervous system;training the educated intellectual development as well as observation, attention, thinkingability, imagination and memory. Its function of moral education is mainly reflected in:to cultivate the collective consciousness and teamwork about the educated; cultivate theeducatees good psychological quality and Willpower; cultivate educated constantpursuit of the ideal spirit; to cultivate educated civilized behavior and consciousdiscipline. Its function of Gymnastics aesthetic education is mainly reflected in: thereare physical beauty, action beauty and action body beauty exist in athletics gymnastics;the Athletics Gymnastics teaching activities contains the physical beauty, action beautyand action body beauty awareness, appreciation, creation, and the development of theactivities of the judgment ability and the ability to create. (3) Military functions about Athletics gymnastics has deep historical roots, mainlyfor military training function.(4) Athletics Gymnastics negative function mainly due to sports injuries andhuman reasons excessive psychological pressure or negative emotions.
