The paper makes the basketball culture construction of Sino-U.S college asthe study theme, comparison the main differences between the national characteristics and theirimpact on respective basketball culture through literature, expert interviews, logical and contrastanalysis, ect. Discussing the main features and construction ideas of Sino-U.S college basketballculture at the nonmaterial culture level in order to find the shortcomings of Chinese collegebasketball culture construction and finally provide reference to promote the college basketball inChina grow healthily. Through discussion and research, the paper comes up with the ideas below:1. Chinese basketball today is no longer left behind, not only the material standard, but also theskill level and physical condition of athletes; basketball slowly becomes a event which depends onthe cultural ideas, IQ, understanding and execution, and there is nothing than college to give suchthings a good birth.2. Chinese college basketball today completely fall into the mistake spot of "Chinese Body andWestern Usage" and to be in a fix.3."Collectivism" and "individualism" is respectively the core of Chinese and American cultureand they are highly complementary; and through analysis, basketball culture in America preferintense physical confrontation, great creative ability and enthusiastic individual performance. Thiskind of "individualism" is closer to the reality of basketball spirit and should be the main role.4. There is a big difference between the cultural ideas and social function of Sino-U.S collegebasketball. The educational function of basketball in America is the primary and main function, butis not the true original intension in China.5. The two college basketball cultures differ in the talent training system,athlete’s and coach’steams, multilaterally building of campus basketball culture, cultural radiation to the community andthe cooperation with the sports media. The experience of American college basketball culture hasgreat reference value.6. Understanding the advanced ideas of America is the spirit which is the most important thingneeded by China. College basketball should be the talent base, but this should be the objective resultafter the healthy growth but not under the control of the subjective consciousness.7. Relevant education and sports departments should institutional focus on developing theschool sports, the establishing the status and function of the college basketball culture. Meanwhile,the civil sports media should stress the development of the related business of school sports, andassume an active posture in leading the direction of public opinion and attracting the social concern,making themselves an important part of the college basketball development.
