Born out of Chinese classical poetry and influenced by western modern poetry, chinesemodern poetry has its unique aesthetics and functions in poetry teaching. However,confined to a variety of reasons, modern poetry teaching has to struggle to move forwardand can not give full play to its functions, resulting in its being coldly received in highschools.In Heyuan, the phenomenon is even worse: there exist estrangements to modern poetryamong teachers and students and attention is given less than it should be; teachers lacktheoretical knowledge in modern poetry and abilities in reading and comprehending; withold-fashioned teaching methods, it’s hard for students to apperceive and experienceenough. Among all the reasons that lead to the difficult position in modern poetry teaching,the most fundamental one is that the present chinese teaching is short-sighted, and eagerfor quick success and instant benefits, neglecting the significance of modern poetry inimproving students’ Chinese language attainment and aesthetic judgment.This thesis, starting from the angle of a chinese language teacher and responding tothe severe situation of modern poetry teaching, advocates to take hold of the keyelement—teachers, changes teachers’ educational concept and repositions modern poetryteaching; also, it advocates to enrich teachers’ theory in modern poetry teaching topromote their abilities to read and comprehend; it advocates to improve teachers’teachingmethods and constructs modern poetry classes with the appreciation of beauty at the core;combining my own teaching practice and from the aspects of “Reading, Appreciating aswell as Writing”, it also explores the workable strategies, concludes and reflects with thehope of gaining better experience and inspiration...
