Ecological English classroom is the study of the English classroom from the perspective of ecology. The classroom is considered as an ecosystem in which the ecological factors interact and interrelate with each other to promote the teachers’ teaching and the students’learning. It aims to promote the abilities of students’ sustainable and all-round development by studying the interrelation and interaction among the ecological factors. The construction of ecological English classroom is not the overturn of traditional English teaching and learning. It promotes its advantages and gets rid of its disadvantages. As an ecosystem, ecological English classroom is based on the study of its integrity, balance, openness, coordination and the sustainable development. Teacher, students and the classroom environment coordinate and coexist harmoniously to make the system in the balanced state for achieving its educational function.This paper adapts the literature review, questionnaire, classroom observation, comparison and examples in the research of junior middle school English teaching environment and classroom management. It illustrates the related theories, function and the structures of ecological classroom. There is a literature review about the study of ecological classroom at home and abroad. The research is conducted by the questionnaire for the students, the interview with the teachers and the classroom observation for collecting materials and getting results. There are three research questions, instruments, detailed procedures and methods. It also analyzes the results of research from the perspective of ecology. It provides the practical instruction for constructing the ecological English classroom. The ecological English classroom provides a new perspective and methods for the study of junior middle school English teaching and learning. It unites the ecological theories with the teaching phenomena, activities and environment. The interrelationship among the ecological factors is the subject of the study. It promotes the reform and development of junior middle school English teaching and learning.
