The purpose of this study is to understand the current situation of the senior high school teachers’ professional burnout, and further understands the feelings about the work of senior high school teachers through interviews to explore the reasons for the formation of it, and accordingly puts measures and suggestions.The study consists of two parts. The first part:using Maslach Burnout Inventory,200senior high school teachers were investigated. And this part gets the following results:based on the High School Teacher Questionnaire score, the emotional exhaustion is relatively high, and then is the depersonalization scores, the last is the reduced personal accomplishment.30-41year-old high school teacher’s professional burnout is the most serious. The professional burnout of teachers who worked for6-10years is the most serious.The head teachers experience more emotional exhaustion than non-head teachers. Teachers of three major subjects including Chinese、math and English experience more emotional exhaustion. Emotional exhaustion of teachers who have more weekly amount of hours is more serious. There is no significant difference in each dimension of teacher professional burnout in gender and grade.The second part:researcher selected9senior high teachers in each teaching stage from the object to participate in the survey, based on interviews to explore the reasons of teacher burnout. And this part gets the following conclusions:lacking of social support, the contrast of the work intensity and economic returns, the gap between expectations and reality, role conflict, the contradiction between the high energy input and low sense of accomplishment, the contradiction between working overburdened and teachers’limited personal resources, the contradiction between advanced teaching concepts and backward evaluation system, are reasons for the senior high school teacher’s professional burnout. Finally, depending on the reasons, researcher accordingly puts measures to mitigate senior high school teacher’s professional burnout from society, school and teachers themselves at three levels.
