Research On Vocational Identity Of College Students And Its Relationship With Social Support And General Self-Efficacy

College students are the key period of development of vocational identity. Exploring the impact of vocational identity has an important factor in the development of theoretical and practical significance. This study used stratified sampling method.1024students ranging from freshmen to seniors, aged17-23from six universities in Wuhan--Wuhan University of Technology, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Hubei University, Wuhan University of Science and Technology, Hubei Institute of Economics, Wuhan Polytechnic University, were tested respectively by the revised Chinese version of Occupation Identity Scale, General Self-Efficacy Scale and Social Support Rating Scale. Social support as an external factor of vocational identity development of college students, general self-efficacy of college students as an internal factor in the development of a study, are designed to explore how social support and general self-efficacy of college students affect the vocational identity development of college students. Statistics show that:(1)The college students’ number of vocational identity moratorium accounted for44%of the total number, vocational identity achievement accounted for17%of the total number. Show that the degree of our country college students’ vocational identity is medium, only less than1/5of the students have a clear positioning and planning for their future occupation, mean scores of the four dimensions of Occupation Identity Scale in descending order are: vocational identity moratorium, vocational identity achievement, vocational identity diffusion, vocational identity foreclosure.(2)The ministry key university student vocational identity achievement was significantly higher than that of a provincial key and general undergraduate, but there was no significant difference between key provincial and general undergraduate; junior and senior vocational identity achievement was significantly higher than the freshman, large differences between junior and senior was not significant; arts students’score at vocational identity diffusion significantly lowers than students of science and engineering.(3)City College Students’ vocational identity foreclosure is significantly higher than that in rural areas; only child’s vocational identity moratorium was significantly lower than that of non-only child, and vocational identity achievement and vocational identity foreclosure significantly higher than non-only child. Parental education in junior college or above, the monthly income in3000RNB above college student vocational identity diffusion degree is lowest, and the vocational identity foreclosure the highest degree. (4) College Students’ vocational identity development and social support is positively related to social support. Subjective social support for the vocational identity achievement has significant positive predictive effect, total social support has significant negative prediction on the vocational identity diffusion, degree of using social support has remarkable negative prediction on vocational identity foreclosure, social support and vocational identity moratorium has no significant correlation.(5) College students’ general self-efficacy was significantly more related with some factors in social support, the social support factors are:the objective social support, subjective social support and social support score. Among them, the subjective social support had significant predictive effects on general self-efficacy.(6) In addition to vocational with a diffusion factor, the other three factors vocational identity and general self-efficacy were significantly related to. Among them, the general self-efficacy delay has remarkable negative prediction on the vocational identity, have significant positive predictive effect on vocational identity achievement and vocational identity foreclosure.(7) General self-efficacy has a mediating effect between subjective social support and vocational identity achievement.
