Objective: To investigate the current state of mobile phone use on vocational collegestudents, as well as to explore the influence factors on the problematic mobile phone useand to provide basic evidence for the further prevention and intervention of mentalhealth in college students.Method: The participants were3130college students from one college in Fuyang city,Anhui province, using a random sampling method. The mainly survey content includessocial demographic characteristics, current state of mobile use and problematic mobilephone use, anxiety, depression, smoking and drinking. The data were collected by usingSelf-rating Questionnaire for Adolescent Problematic Mobile Phone Use (SQAPMPU),Self-Rating Depression Scale (SDS), Self-rating Anxiety Scale (SAS), and Youth RiskBehavior Survey (YRBS).Results: All the participants had mobile phones. The rates of mobile phones use morethan three years, switched on24hours continuously, the average monthly cost of mobilephone over60yuan, and own a smartphone in boys were59.2%,63.5%,25.9%and51.2%, respectively. It was much higher than girls and the difference had statisticalsignificance. Chi-square tests results showed that anxiety symptom, depressionsymptom, tobacco and alcohol use were significantly associated with problematicmobile phone use. Multivariate logistic regression showed that anxiety symptom, depression symptom and alcohol use significantly increased the risks for problematicmobile phone use (OR=2.831, P<0.001; OR=2.131, P<0.001; OR=1.433, P<0.001,respectively).Conclusion: Mobile phone use become common among college students. Anxietysymptom, depression symptom, and alcohol use prove a link with problematic mobilephone use. Drinking behavior of adolescent should be intervened as soon as possible.We should cultivate their emotion management ability to guide adolescent scientific andrational using of mobile phone.
