To research the hope intervention by the horticultural therapy on high school students, a broad questionnaire survey is used as a basic method, an experimental quantitative analysis and a qualitative research is done based on the survey materials. The research focuses on:To discuss the feasibility and the effectiveness of "Improve the hope of high school students by horticultural therapy".Experiment1to survey current hope level of high school students shows:1. It is good for the development of high school students’hope and each dimension. The score is upper-middle in4-point scoring system.2. There are significant differences on agency thought and pathway thought among different grades. But as a whole, there is no significant difference in hope among different grades.3. The average scores of boy students on each dimension and hope are higher than those of girl students, but not significant.4. The average score of city students on hope is higher than that of country students. There is no significant difference on agency thought between city students and country students, but there are significant differences on pathway thought and hope.Experiment2is the horticultural therapy impact on the hope of high school students. A detail plan is designed as "divide into two groups, the experimental group of80students and the control group of78students, with pretest-posttest experiments". Before the experiment, equal-group processing is used. The students hope scale table is used before and after the horticultural therapy of9times, and2hours each time, which shows:5. The horticultural therapy can improve significantly the hope, agency thought and pathway thought (P<.001)6. There is no significant difference on the hope,agency thought and pathway thought improvements between the boy students and the girl students. 7. There is no significant difference on the hope,agency thought and pathway thought improvements between the city students and the country students.Experiment3is the qualitative research. Based in the collecting qualitative materials during the horticultural therapy, the effectiveness of horticultural therapy to improve the hope of high school students is verified. And the hope impact modes are analyzed by categorization and contextualization.8. The horticultural therapy can improve the goal thought. After the horticultural therapy, the students did a better schedule before activities. The quantity of planned goals improved, which can be divided into long-term goals and short-term goals. The big goals can be splitted into all kinds of small and logical interactive goals.9. The horticultural therapy can improve the pathway thought. After the horticultural therapy, the quantity of pathway thought was improved. When the goal was blocked to achieve, students can find the root cause, get help from all different sides, and seek for an alternative goal. They enjoyed the process of achieving goal.10. The horticultural therapy can improve the agency thought. The ability of self-challenge was improved. Self-talk was always used when facing setbacks. The ability of how to deal with the emotion when facing setbacks was improved. The student believes the future. And the hope of future is more fit with reality.11. The horticultural therapy can improve mental health, which can reduce the stress, regulate emotions, resolve depression, paranoia, obsessive-compulsive symptoms, improve memory, and relieve maladjustment. And it can get six benefits including cognitive, social, emotional, physical, spiritual and creative improvements.
