With the fiercer competition between human beings in the promising21st century, it is a requirement that China should gradually focus its attention on developing educational system and cultivating more innovative minds in order to become one of the prominent nations. As for China’s educational undertakings, the curricular reform is now at its crucial point, and whether or not the reform will be successful is largely dependent on those teachers’ comprehensive qualities in that the latter is a prerequisite of the former. The reform emphasizes more on students’all—around development and it takes "people oriented" as its concept and "students’life long development" as its principle. However, it is a great challenge for primary school teachers to put this teaching concept into practical use. It is known to us all that only qualified teachers can cultivate excellent students, and that’s the reason why more attention has been paid to PE teacher’s personal qualities in the process of curricular reform. Therefore, in order to know the status quo of PE teacher’s qualities in primary school, this thesis combines theory analysis with questionnaire method and at last some feasible suggestions are put forward according to the results.This thesis analyzes Wu Han primary school PE teacher’s comprehensive qualities from the aspects of moral standards, teaching concept, professional skills and capabilities. And according to some teaching theories and requirements proposed by NCS (New Curricular Standards of Primary School), a questionnaire called "A Research on Wu Han Primary School PE Teacher’s Qualities under the New Curricular Standards" is designed. Based on the analysis of the result, some suggestions on improving primary school PE teacher’s qualities are further proposed:1. To change the teachers’ teaching concept;2. To cultivate the teachers’ abilities of scientific research;3. To open " New Curricular Standards" training courses4. To reinforce the interactions between teachers in the suburbs and the city, and to further improve the teachers’overall qualities in the suburbs.
