The level of urbanization is one of the important marks to measure a country orregion’s development level, Urbanization along with the advancement ofindustrialization and modernizationUrbanization is not only refers to the growth of urban population, also includescity mode of production, city life concept spread to the rural areas, and people toaccept the culture of the city. Jiangsu province as the "Yangtze river delta" importantconstituent, its urban development and economic development has been located in thenational front row. Urbanization of Jiangsu province plays an important role inpromoting economic development and modernization construction, but in the fastdevelopment of the urbanization, there are some shortage restricts the economicdevelopment. Therefore, research the influence of urbanization on economicdevelopment, and puts forward the countermeasures optimizing urbanization andeconomic development in Jiangsu province, and at the same time for other provincesand cities have reference significance to the urbanization process. This is a ratherpractical significance of work.Based on development economics, macroeconomics theory, the urbanizationlevel and the economic development of Jiangsu province as the research objects,Combined with theory and empirical, qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis.From the economic growth, industrial structure, employment structure and quality oflife four aspects in Jiangsu province to study the level of urbanization impact oneconomic development, mining to the level of urbanization impact on economicdevelopment mechanism. Afterwards, describe the coordination degree ofurbanization and economic development of each city in Jiangsu province, and putsforward corresponding proposals.Through the above analysis, the paper comes to the following main conclusions:1. Jiangsu province urbanization and economic growth are causal relation, theimprovement of urbanization can promote economic growth, and economic growthalso can promote the development of urbanization, the two aspects to promote eachother and develop together.2. No matter from short-term or long-term perspective, the urbanization canpromote the readjustment of industrial structure, the urbanization level increased byone percent, the proportion of non-agricultural industries corresponding increased by 0.1729%.3. The urbanization can promote the readjustment of employment structure, theimprovement of urbanization can attract the employees to the service industry.4. There is a big gap between urban and rural consumption in Jiangsu province,but with the improvement of urbanization, the income level of resident improve,consumption level gradually improved, It disclosed the fact of the change ofconsumption model which is on the main of the living type consumption.5. Through the factor analysis to get the comprehensive scores of theurbanization level and the comprehensive scores of economic development of13cities in Jiangsu province, then find out the coordination degree. As we can know,Coordination degree declines from south to north.
