Yingze Park in the city of Taiyuan, constructed in the year of1954, has a history of six decades. There are four natural areas including northern area, central area, southern area and southern lake, and five functional regions including management, production, cultural and leisure, plant display region and entertainment region. Following the Eastern and Western Gateways of Yonghe Lamasery in Beijing, the "Splendid Taiyuan" Gateway is a landmark of profound historical and cultural heritage of Taiyuan city. Combining ’park" and "folk", from the perspective of folklore, the features and essence of modern urban public cultural space has been examined and contemplated.Taking the largest comprehensive recreational park of Shanxi Province--Yingze Park in the city of Taiyuan as an example, this paper highlights the features of urban folk life by investigating various morning recreational organization of elder people, especially those organizations with live folk heritage features, such as Lotus Fall (an old folk art form), Chorus of folk songs, Corner for blind date, Groups of chanting scriptures, etc. They imagine and restore the spirit of rural life, by acting, learning skills, singing, oreven conflicts in the public cultural space of a city, so as to reflectand embody the relationship among civil society, government andpublic culture, people’s livelihood construction and resident groups.And it discusses how to realize the cultural identity and otherissues. On this basis, it analyzes the characteristics and culturalcharacteristics of folklore organization in modern cities.
