A Study On Problems Faced By Newly-appointed Head Teachers In Job And Improvement Strategies In Secondary Technical School

Head teacher in a vital position in school, and jobs of a head teacher are the key part of the school managements. Theoretical findings on head teachers’ job are quite a lot and theories of head teachers’ jobs are relatively comprehensive; however, the studies on jobs of newly-appointed head teachers, especially of those in secondary technical schools are relatively few, which obviously doesn’t fit the actual situation that our country has greatly developed the vocational education and head teachers in these schools have confronted more and more difficulties due to various reasons in education practice. The study adopts interview survey to explore the existent problems faced by newly-appointed head teachers in their job, analyzes the causes and proposes corresponding suggestions.Based on the analyses on education practice experiences and existent theories, the study proposes the unique advantages of newly-appointed head teachers, namely, no age gaps, more affinity, less family worries, more time and energy, no fixed working patterns and dare to innovate. Through the interview survey, it finds problems worth considering include:lack of comprehensive and deep understanding of their students, lack of feasible measures of class management and organization, lack of reasonable and effective means to develop the underachievers and lack of efficient channels to communicate with their families. The study conducts corresponding analysis on the found problems, and also proposes suggestions:the school shall stress the professions of lead teachers and the teachers shall improve their own quality to help the underachievers by scientific methods and lay a bridge to communicate with their families.
