The Development Of Extracurricular Sports Activities In The Rural Junior High Schools Of Laifeng County

The extracurricular sports activities in schools are important means to achieve the goal in the physical education as well as important parts of the physical education. Meanwhile, it is also indispensable for the schools’education. The thesis is completed by questionnaires, interviews and the field visits to conduct the the survey and research on the development of the extracurricular sports activities in8rural junior high schools of Laifeng County. Based on the introduction of the development of the extracurricular sports activities in junior high schools of Laifeng County, some suggestions are put forward to enhance the progress of the extracurricular sports activities in the local schools. The results of survey are as follows:1. Both the physical education teachers and students in rural junior high schools of Laifeng County had a good understanding of the influences of the extracurricular sports activities and supported the development of the extracurricular sports activities. However, the leaders concerned paid less attention to developing extracurricular sports activities, and the rural junior high schools of Laifeng County were lack of the related documents and the evaluation system need to be improved.2.The schools had insufficient sports facilities, and the construction didn’t reach the standard. Besides, the schools had relatively weak faculty. And the teachers possessed less professional skills.3.The form of the organization of extracurricular sports activities was mainly exercise during the break, and the morning exercises and sports competition didn’t going well because of their simple contents. And less students were able to take an active part in the extracurricular sports activities organized by schools. Only one third of the students would like to participate in the extracurricular sports activities and the lasting time was very short and the frequency was far from enough.4.The main factors which exert a great influence on the development of extracurricular sports activities in schools are:insufficient fund, the shortage of sports facilities, heavy study burden, the less guidance of the professional physical education teachers and so on.According to the specific condition of the rural junior high schools of Laifeng County and based on the survey results, some suggestions to enhance the development of extracurricular sports activities in rural junior high schools of Laifeng County are put forward as follows:1.The departments concerned should strengthen the implementation, formulate and improve the evaluation system and make great efforts to arouse the attention of the schools’ leaders.2.The training of the physical education teachers should be enhanced to improve their proficiency and professional skills. At the same time, the number of the female physical education teachers should be increased.3.The playgrounds in schools should be built and improved. More sports facilities should be provided and used creatively to produce a good environment for the students’ sports.4.Innovative sports activities with ethnic characteristics shall be promoted to enrich the contents of the extracurricular sports activities in schools.
