Since2004when the Chinese Ministry of Education carried out the reform of music major (teacher education) in national colleges and universities, they have put the spirit of course reform into practice. Multi-tone Music Analysis and Writing has been added into the courses of music major (teacher education) as a new one. This course, as one of the compulsory courses for music major (teacher education), focuses on students’ability of analyzing, practical application and the integral grasp of music works, and help students put what they learn from theory into practical creating, composing and other musical activities outside school. With the development of this course in education, some problems which we can’t afford to ignore come into being.This course is still at seedtime, detailed investigation and analysis of its present situation are needed to create a mature new course which can adapt to the theoretical development of composition skill in normal universities. Therefore, with the pilot work background of Multi-tone Music Analysis and Writing, I am striving to express my own opinions and suggestions to the questions I found in teaching. I hope that the value of Theory of Composition Skill in normal universities doesn’t only lie in total theoretic level, but also in the practical level to expand and broaden the composition skill to help the music teachers in normal universities enhance the comprehensive abilities of pupil music.
