Since the development of the technology is rapidly going on, the use of information andtechnology to enhance teaching quality initiatives are being conducted all over the world. Asone of the important factors that affect the effectiveness of education, the book also changedhis original forms to cope with the rapidly development of information technologies, in orderto meet the changes of technology, electronic textbooks has changed theirs’ original forms. We can say that it is an important attempt to design and develop rich capabilities and muchmore knowledge of content-rich electronic textbooks. However, the current domestic researchon electronic textbooks are mostly at macro level, for example, the feasibility, the trends ofdeveloping, the values of application and so on, but there is a little detail studies about thebasal theory and the functional design about the electronic textbooks. In the research methods, there is lack of relevant empirical studies to verify the electronic textbook satisfaction, ease ofuse and its impact on students’ achievements and so on.According to the current status of research on electronic textbooks at home and abroad, guiding by the cognitive theory of multimedia learning, mathematical learning theory,self-learning theory, and then design and develop the middle school mathematics electronictextbooks, and applying the electronic textbooks into students’ self-learning. Through thequestionnaires and interviews to survey the satisfaction, effectiveness, difficulty of operationabout electronic textbooks, then investigate its impact on students’ achievements by usingcomparative experiment. The staple contents of this research are:1. The design of electronic textbooks’ function. According to the current status ofresearch about the electronic textbooks at home and abroad, guiding by the cognitive theoryof multimedia learning, mathematical learning theory, self-learning theory, relying on theanalysis of learners’ characteristics and cognitive characteristics, as learners to the center todesign the electronic textbooks. Electronic textbooks have six functions, such as videoexplanations, animations, operating, information tips, answers and feedback. The resultsindicate that these functions can help students to learn very well.2. Satisfaction, usefulness, easy of use about electronic textbooks. Applying theelectronic textbooks into the experiment, through the questionnaires and interviews to survey the satisfaction, effectiveness, difficulty of operation about electronic textbooks, fund thedifferent in terms of the boys and girls’ difference, interest of mathematics, learning styles, and to investigate its impact on student achievement by using comparative experiment. Thefindings showed that:(1) high satisfaction with electronic textbooks to students.(2)electronic textbooks are easy to operate, but compared with girls, there is a little trouble toboys.(3) electronic textbooks can help students to learning, it has a higher usefulness.3. The impact of electronics textbooks on students’ achievement. By using thecomparative experiment to verify the influence of electronic textbook on students’ marks.Following the test results, we can know that the achievement of class by using electronictextbooks is higher than by using paper textbooks, electronics textbooks can enhancedstudents’ marks, but there was no illustrious difference about the effect of marks betweenstudents in different groups divided by grade.
