With the rapid development of social economy, scientific cultural knowledge is playing more and more irreplaceable role since the21th Century. Countries around the world are increasingly aware of the importance of basic education in the development of the society and awave of curriculumreform in basic education has been set off gradually all over the world.The curriculum and teaching materials of various countries are making continuous reform and development by trial and error. In order to make further progress in the future,it is quite necessary to learn from other countries’ advanced experience in education in addition to basing on the development status of our secondary school chemistry education.In this paper, curriculum standards of high school chemistry are compared between Britain and China.Then the latest version of CIE A-Level chemistry textbook published by cambridge university press in201land the new curriculum PEP textbook of high school chemistry are selected as the comparison object, having a systematic comparative study on both materials by setting the aspects of teaching content from the textbook structure, layout features, presentation and chemical experiment contents, finding out the same and different points of the materials in the above two aspects,and finally summarized the advantages of our teaching materials and the existing problems, andmakes some suggestions of personal preparation in chemical teaching material, hoping to provide a reference for the future of our curriculum and textbook reform.
