Chinese textbook is not only an important medium for the spread of language knowledge, but also an important carrier of value. The compilers’choice about the contents of textbook can clearly showing its value orientation. Textbook images of children of primary school students have a "role model" effect, as reflected image of the child’s personality, or more likely have an impact on the quality characteristics of the formation of student life and values.So the paper chooses the image of children as entry point and study the value orientation of textbook through text analysis of the version Kang Hsuan edition in primary school, tries to address the following three questions: What children image does the textbook mould?And what characteristics of the mainstream value embodied by those images? What kind of enlightenment does that provide for the textbook compilation in mainland?In this paper, I take the "Child figures" in the textbook as the research object, select the latest version of the Taiwan Kang Hsuan Press Elementary "Mandarin"(total13) as the analysis of text. The thesis is divided into seven parts:The introduction part elaborates the fundamental theory of children’s image analysis based on textbooks, stating the meaning and value of the study, and summarize children image analysis of the status quo at home and abroad.The first part of paper builds up a relatively perfect children image analysis framework on the basis of predecessors’ research combined with the particularity of children’s image analysis,including external image and internal image two perspectives. External image includes gender image, age image nationality image and national image, internal image includes psychological and moral image.The second part of the paper is a general overview of children images in textbook of the Kang Hsuan edition. In the third part and the forth part, we code and count the image of children in primary school textbooks, according to different analysis of dimension and seeks the features of the images through frequency analysis and qualitative analysis of children’s images in the textbooks.After that,the fifth part of the paper draws the following conclusions with a fresh view:in physiological aspect, people take male as the center,but pursue gender equality; in social aspect, Han population central tendency is obvious, at the same time pay attention to the minority character shaping; in age aspect:people focus on contemporary children’s character and stress the inheritance of ancient outstanding culture; in psychological aspect:people tend to shape positive emotions,involving children’s emotional control education; in ethical aspect:the harmony between human and nature is highly emphasized.With a general review, I found the value orientation of children’s character’s shaping in Kang Hsuan edition:lifelization、actualization、childlization、 modernization and pluralism.In the end, author proposes the ponder in lifelization, actualization, childlization three ways, hoping to provide the consultation for the compilation of teaching materials in mainland China.
