| Upon the emerging of the new media era, it is imperative for China to carry out all-round, multi-level media literacy education. The preschool teachers have already encountered a huge challenge when trying to construct three-dimensional media literacy education system from kindergarten.The lack of media literacy research on preschool teachers makes it almost impossible for the researchers to grasp the status of preschool teachers’media literacy in China. Therefore, it becomes more and more necessary and inevitable to explore media literacy for the preschool teachers with a positive attitude.Based on a large number of relevant studies, the research attempts to classify the media literacy ability of preschool teachers. The author completed a questionnaire survey on the media literacy status of kindergarten teachers in Chongqing as a sample which mainly includes:media literacy status of kindergarten teachers, factors that affect preschool teacher’s media literacy.The findings show that preschool teacher’s media literacy need to be further improved. Preschool teachers are not willing and enthusiastic to implement media literacy education while their ability of which is also at a low level. Ages, locations, grades and types of kindergarten have a significant impact on preschool teacher’s media literacy, while education background only has a significant impact on preschool teacher’s basic media literacy,with almost no impact on the overall situation of preschool teacher’s media literacy.Finally, the study attempts to propose some solid suggestions on promoting the media literacy of preschool teacher from the governmental education sectors, preschool teacher training institutions, kindergarten and preschool teachers’perspectives. |
