With the development of society, the connection between people is becoming closer andcloser. So oral communication is playing an increasingly important role in people’s lives. Andoral communicative ability has become the essential skills for modern citizens.In order tocultivate talents who suit to the development of society,“obedient and speak” was providetheoretical guidance for oral communication teaching when the syllabus was revisedin2000.The main contents of Chinese language teaching includes Oral communication teaching,literacy teaching, teaching reading, writing teaching and comprehensive learning.Manyscholars study oral communication teaching from the theoretical and practical aspects. Theyalso put forward a number of feasible suggestions, which promoted the development of oralcommunication teaching to some extentXingtai county is located in the south of the province of Hebei, east of Xingtai City, westof the Taihang Mountains. It is rich in mineral resources, the economic level is located in theforefront of Xingtai City, but the education level is far behind other county in Xingtai City. Inthis paper, the author investigated the Xingtai County, Xingtai City, four junior middleschools, using literature research method, questionnaire survey method, interview method andinterview method nd in well as the future development of students. In resolving the status ofXingtai County oral communicative teaching pay more attention to the feasibility andpertinence: relies on teaching material, through the full development of dominant teaching,strengthen the integration of teaching content; to set up with Xingtai County historicalresources, cultural customs, natural scenery as the topic of oral communicative school-basedteaching materials; latent teaching oral communication atmosphere to create studentsinterested in oral communication, improving students’ oral English level.This thesis consists of four parts: tThe first part introduces the origin of the topic and theresearch significance of the paper. Based on the domestic research situation related to oralcommunication teaching, the author put forward the theoretical basis and the researchmethods of this paper.The second part gives the definitions of oral communication teaching. At the same time, the author summarizes the characteristics of oral communication and oralcommunication teaching, and points out the significance of oral communication teaching.hethird part describes the investigation and the current teaching situation which is found throughthe survey. In addition, the reason for the situation is summarized.The fourth part puts forwardfour methods which includes changing ideas, developing teaching materials and opening up avariety of ways and follow scientific and effective principles to improve the current situationof oral communication teaching and improve students’ oral communication.
