The basic idea of the new curriculum reform emphasizes to improve the scientificliteracy, and advocate inquiry-based learning. The implementation of model teaching inhigh school biology classroom is in line with the new curriculum idea. It has a role inpromoting the students acquiring the knowledge of Biology, understanding the process ofscientific research, and grasping the scientific research methods. This paper based on thetheory of model teaching probes into the function and significance of model teaching.Meanwhile, through the preliminary empirical study, the paper attempts to combine thetheory of model teaching with its practice organically to explore a more perfect teachingmode for the actual situation.This paper mainly includes three parts. The first part studies the methods of literatureresearch to explore the theoretical basis of the model teaching, and its research status athome and abroad, to lay the foundation for follow-up study; The second part uses thequestionnaire survey carried on57high school biology teachers and274high schoolstudents of three grades so as to understand and analyze the current status of theapplication of biological model teaching in senior high school. The third part uses themethod of action research which combines personal teaching experience and case analysisin order to study the implementation of the high school biology model teachingsystematically and accordingly gives the conclusions and prospects of this study.The results of the study indicate that the implementation of model teachingcontributes a lot to the teaching process of high school biology lessons. It plays asignificant role in the following aspects:①strengthening the links between presuppositionand generation in high school biology classes;②increasing students’ interest andimproving their activeness in learning biology;③cultivating students’ creative awarenessand improving their exploration abilities;④improving students’ problem-solving skills. Inthe meantime, as to the limitations of models’ functions and the actual situation of model teaching, some reasonable suggestions are proposed on the domestic model teaching ofbiology in this paper.
