Secondary school education is an important period for students’physical and mental growth in their adolescence during which they gradually become mature in both physical shape and mental health. Positive and effective measures in this period can guide the students to all-round development. Dance education in the promotion of physical and mental development has an active role. But currently, the dance education in secondary school is dislocating in their purposes and methods, thus obstructing the physical and mental development for the students. This article uses the "movement therapy" for reference to explore the "action therapy" in high school dance education in order to seek an effective way for students’physical and mental development.The paper is divided into three chapters. The first chapter deals with the challenges and problems faced by high school dance education. First analyses the physical and mental challenges and problems faced by secondary school students, which are key factors affecting dance education. Then analyzes the problems currently faced by high school students in dance education, pointing out their lack of mental and physical education. The second chapter deals with the application of the "action therapy". The first part is the way to approach "action therapy". There are two major ways:main body education and assisted education. The main body education including two parts, one is from the body to the heart which includes the analysis of physical space and grasp, analysis and coordination of body shape dynamic analysis and adjustment of body and emotion; the other is from the heart to the body which includes the mobilization of psychological driving force, release of emotion, the set of the psychological context, the use of relation, symbol and language education etc. The assisted education includes musical, colorific and environmental education. The second part is the "action therapy" application experiments in reality based on two forms:colonial and individual. By analyzing the effects of different group, emphasizes the premier significance of "action therapy" in dance education. The third chapter draws a conclusion of "action therapy" application. The first part is systematic constructions of the methods used in "action therapy", including the main body and assisted education. The second part is systematic constructions of the application in "action therapy", including its infrastructure and characteristics.Overall, pursing all-round development in physical and mental heath is an ultimate object in secondary school education. The paper explores the application of "action therapy" in secondary school dance education to intensify the functions and enrich the methods in dance education, and therefore promoting the physical and mental health of the young generation.
