Nowadays, with the quick development of technology, there are a lot of information pour in everyday. Reading is one of the most important ways of language input, and then English is an important language tool to absorb and exchange information. This determines the importance of reading teaching in English teaching. New Standards for Full-time Compulsory Education Curriculums recommends Task-based Teaching in English-learning classes, which makes more and more teachers study this teaching approach. Many scholars and front-line teachers have achieved fruitful results on the study of Task-based Teaching, but it is not enough in the teaching of English reading. In view of this, I hope I can help teachers use Task-based Teaching better through my own teaching practice.The study from the perspective of Task-based Teaching, based on the related theories of Task-based Teaching, combined with the requirements of English reading of junior high schools in "English curriculum standard" and the actual needs of English reading teaching of junior high schools, set up class steps of Task-based Teaching in English reading:presentation of tasks-learning new knowledge-application of new knowledge-the results show, which is in accordance with characteristics of "new English", use research methods as literature study, questionnaire and experimental method, through putting Task-based Teaching into practice, use the method of class record, reading achievement test, questionnaire and interview to test the validity of Task-based Teaching in English reading teaching. Then analyze the experiment results to summarize and validate: Task-based Teaching is useful to improve students’ English reading attitude, it also can help the students to master correct methods of reading and improve students’ English reading abilities.The author also finds some problems in the practice of Task-based Teaching, and puts forward my own suggestions to solve the problems, hoping to help first-line teachers use the method better.
