English reading teaching occupies a leading position in junior middle school English teaching,and accounts for a large proportion in the total score of the middle school test volume.In recent years,New English Curriculum Standard newly issued by the state has also put forward high requirements for students' English reading ability of junior middle school.It is the traditional 3P mode that is widely used in our country,in other words,teachers give lessons while students take notes in classroom,the teachers pay more attention to the explanation of language teaching points,which creates a phenomenon of getting half the result with twice the effort,and it is urgent to improve students' English reading ability.A new language teaching method--the Task-based Approach,which is produced in 1980 s,puts forward new requirements for teachers who need to design the corresponding tasks according to the contents of teaching to complete the design task or solve the questions raised by the teachers as the direction of the students,and take completing the task as a result of an effective method to measure students' learning outcomes.In addition,this teaching method emphasizes the teachers' teaching by guiding students to complete various pre set tasks in the classroom.In the process of teaching,teachers should design specific and operable learning tasks based on specific language items.Students can accomplish tasks arranged by teachers with different learning methods,such as expression,communication and negotiation,so as to achieve the purpose of learning and mastering language.Task-based Approach is quite different from the traditional language teaching methods.It has attracted wide attention of language educators in academic circles,and also is a new direction of foreign language curriculum teaching reform in China.The author of this paper aims to study and do some research on the theory of Task-based Approach,and attempts to apply this new teaching method in English reading teaching classroom of junior middle school.In addition,after elaborating on the tasks and Task-based Approach and the related theory of reading teaching mode,the author presents the steps of Task-Based reading teaching.Then the data is sorted and analyzed based on the classroom teaching experiment and questionnaire survey.From the experimental results,we can see that Task-based Approach can be effectively applied in English reading teaching of junior middle school,and is more superior than the traditional 3P mode.This new language teaching method can effectively improve students' English reading ability and level,stimulate their interest in reading English,and help the students to develop good reading habits and master basic reading strategies.
