Under the background of the national self-innovation strategy, the paper firstlyanalyses the spatial distribution of innovation capability; secondly it studies the factorseffecting innovation output capacity in different regions; thirdly it explores the spillovereffect of scientific and technological innovation on economic growth among regions;finally the paper develops some practical innovative measures to improve the role ofregional innovation capability for stimulating economic growth. For the empirical part, we firstly analyse the economic spillover effect on theinnovation with spatial econometric method; secondly, we run the spatial explorationanalysis of innovation activities based on the different feature of Chinese province andspace model, which can tell us the change and the trend of our provinces’ innovationactivity in time and space; thirdly, we set a new model to explore the spillover effect of theinnovation on economic growth using the spatial lag model and the spatial error model andthen deeply study the question that whether technology innovation spillovereffect significantly exist among different regions. The results show that our nationalinnovation has around of0.8636%positive spillover effect towards the economic growth.Overall, the innovation has positive effect on the economic growth, but there aredifferences between different regions. Then, this article choose Shanghai (High–Highzone) and Chongqing (Low–Low zone) as the typical spillover samples, and based on theinnovation overflow direction (from strong innovation zone to weak innovation zone), wechoose Shanghai-Jiangsu and Chongqing-Sichuan respectively to do the vectorauto-regression to test the differences of spillover effect in this two adjacent areas. Theempirical results show that the strong overflow effect zone have long term effect to itsadjacent area, however, the weak overflow effect zone only have short-term volatilityeffect to its adjacent area.
