The Chinese nation is with thousands of years’ culture, music culture is also well developed,in the whole world; China is also one of the main originative locations for primary music. Tobe demonstrated by the bone whistles which were found in the Jia Hu district in Henanprovince? There were already seven-holed musical instrument in China in at least8000yearsin the Chinese musical culture. The Chinese national music culture, which is plentiful anddeveloped well, has been well accumulated. However, the “Traditional music” which wemention today is a complicated concept. The traditional music which is referred in this topicis the music that is of the traditional music form which is formed before the Qing Dynasty,they are all classified into the “traditional music” range, it does not only includes the ancientmasterpieces that was given birth to in the Chinese history and is passed to today, it alsoinclude the present age Chinese music works which is created with the national forms and iswith our own national forms, it’s also the accumulation of the Chinese music history. It loadsthe succinct of the Chinese culture, among what there contains the educational thoughts andphilosophic thinking modes which if full of Chinese cultural traditions. Traditional musicitself is with its national character and the continuity which is formed by the birth and pass ofculture; it reflects the politics, economy, culture and customs of each location. In the musiceducation area, traditional music is of such an important historic position, so in the presentmusic teaching, what’s the position and present situation of it? Has it performed its doomfunctions, this thesis just aims to research it.This thesis, adopts survey methods to collect data and master the present situation towardmore than ten primary schools and middle schools in Yantai, gaining detailed one hand data,as well, through on line literature searching method and interviewing method, gainingaccessory data, helping to support the theoretical structure of the whole thesis.At present, there are many problems on the education of traditional music in primary andmiddle schools in China, the detailed reflection is that the traditional music won’t be welladopted in classes, as well, teachers, parents, schools and relative government administrativeunits also haven’t do well in recognizing and paying attention to the education of traditionalmusic. For the moment, such problems are still often seen in the primary schools and middleschools in Yantai, these elements are still producing obvious problems. To solve them, on one hand we need to improve music educational hardware facility and educational level, on theother hand, the students’ attitudes on learning traditional music need to be fixed, as well,schools also need to pay more attention on it, so that parents would realize the importance thatthe traditional music can play an important role to mold the early period psychology of thechildren, as well, the government also need to give relative policies to cooperate the educationof traditional music.There are still many aspects on the traditional music teaching in the primary and middleschools in Yantai area, to change it from the root, we do not only need the supports from thegovernments, we also need the cooperation among the students, parents and schools, as well,the students themselves also needs to pay a great effort, each aspect cooperate well, a goodtraining environment can thus be created for the students to develop their music qualities.
