With the rapid development of information technology, the IT education is becoming more and more important. The IT teachers are the inheritors of information technology as well as the trainer of information literacy. Meanwhile, they are also the pilot of education informationization. However, some teachers’ professional competence has not increased with their seniority, for they lack the power of professional development and have no room for their professional development. That is to say, they have showed a "plateau phenomenon"of their professional development.In this study, a questionnaire was done to show the current situation and the performance of "plateau phenomenon"of IT teachers’ professional development in the middle schools of Yanqing County. Some teachers were interviewed in this paper, which further analyzed the causes of "plateau phenomenon"of IT teachers’ professional development in Yanqing County and how to overcome this phenomenon.The study found that the main performances of "plateau phenomenon"of IT teachers’ professional development are:identity reduction of their professional development, their decreased professional emotion, their doubt about the professional positioning and their decreased motivation of professional development. The cause of "plateau phenomenon" comes from schools and IT teachers. To help the teachers make a breakthrough in the "plateau", the management of departments, schools and individual teachers all should work effectively, provide the opportunity for the IT teachers’ promotion, manage in a scientific and personalised way, establish a reasonable evaluation system for IT teachers, provide the opportunity for IT teachers to further education, build research teams, live in an optimistic attitude, improve the teaching quality and practice bravely with feedbacks according to characteristics of teachers’personal professional development of information technology. |
