Previous researchers describe teachers "professional plateau" phenomenon fromseveral aspects and so far the definition is not unified. One says that teachers"professional plateau" phenomenon refers to that teachers in a certain stage of careerdevelopment, due to further increase the responsibility cause the relevant professionalprogress such as promotion, flow temporarily paused in the state of psychology andbehavior. Another theory is that the teachers "professional plateau" phenomenonrefers to after teachers’ teaching level has reached a certain height, it is difficult toovercome the "bottleneck" of teaching research, the teaching level appear stagnate."Career plateau" phenomenon exists generally in the personal career development.Higher vocational teachers is no exception. There are some negative impacts toteacher’s professional development if the career plateau develops. It not only affectsthe professional development of teachers themselves but also plays a role of obstaclesto the rapid development of higher vocational education.So to find and focus on theteachers in the career plateau in a timely manner and analysis the reasons and targetedto take certain measures will reduce the influence of the career plateau to the teachers’professional development effectively. It will play a positive role to the healthy andrapid development of China’s higher vocational education.This paper based on the previous theory and practice experience about careerplateau and mainly adopts the methods of the literature review and questionnairesurvey. Mainly from three aspects of higher vocational teachers’ career plateau tostudy. First, through the questionnaire survey to analyze the current situation ofhigher vocational teachers’ career plateau and the adverse impact of the career plateau.Second, from the social, institutional and individual three aspects to analyze the causeof higher vocational teachers’ career plateau. Third, analyze from three aspects ofsociety, school and individual to breakthrough the strategy of teachers’ career plateau.
