A Study On The Selected Edition’s Analysis Of Classic Poetry In Elementary Chinese Textbooks By Jiangsu Education Press

The teaching and learning of ancient poetry is a must, and of great importance in theChinese education during elementary school period. At year-end2011, the Ministry ofEducation of the People’s Republic of China issued "The Chinese Curriculum Standard ofCompulsory Education". It required some new requirements for classic poems selected intextbooks of elementary school’s Chinese. According to the Curriculum Standard, there aretotally63ancient poems, from Tang Dynasty up to the contemporary era, selected in theelementary Chinese textbooks by Jiangsu Education Press. They were written by variousforms, involving many famous ancient poets and their poetry. They have not only met thenew requirements of the "Curriculum Standards", but also had their own version features.Based on the Elementary Chinese Textbooks by Jiangsu Education Press, the author hasmade a study on ancient poetry selections. In the process, the author combined teachingexperience with essays and books. The author analyzed the ancient poetry of ElementaryChinese Textbooks by Jiangsu Education Press in parts of quantity and quality, types orforms of literature, etc. Although the selection of ancient poetry by the Elementary ChineseTextbooks by Jiangsu Education Press has many successes, the author pointed out itsweakness and gave some advice.
