The Analysis Of China’s PV Power Industry Competitiveness And Growth

Solar photovoltaic (PV) power is a new and green energy industry. China has a wide prospect of solar energy utilization with its huge solar resource and has resource potential for large-scale development and market prospects of solar PV power. The solar PV power in China has developed for50years, and experienced a rapid progress in the recent10years. China’s total PV power installations will account for5%of the total electric power capacity by2050. In this study, a Diamond Model approach is adopted to identify and analyze factors including factor conditions, demand conditions, chance, firm strategy, structure and rivalry, related and support industry, and government, which have significant impacts on the development of China’s PV power industry according to the industrial competitiveness theory and the Porter’s Diamond Model theory, and proposes the gear model of the solar PV power industrial competitiveness basing on the study. The gear model combines the Porter’s Diamond Model and China’s solar PV power industry dynamics, and analyzes the industry development trends and driving forces. In line with the fast growth of the PV power industry in China, it is urgent to identify, analyze and grasp the growth route and the characteristics of the industry. This paper analyzes the factors including the technology research and development, the industrial plans, the laws and regulations, the electricity price policies, and the projects incentive policies according to the industrial growth theory. And analyzes the typical events, the growth process and the characteristics to the five factors, builds the development route models and summarizes the key factors of industry growth and the direction of the industry development. The results can be as a useful reference for the development of China’s solar PV power industry.
